Ulster project

8th Nov 2022
As you may be aware the Ulster project is a Church based cross community project that sends groups of teenagers to the United States for four weeks each summer. While there, the teenagers are engaged in many structured activities including service projects, team building exercises and time of discovery sessions. There are many cities and towns in both the United States and Northern Ireland that are linked through this forty-seven year old project and this year Portadown will once again be sending teenagers to Kansas and Delaware. Hopefully we will be selecting thirty teenagers who are in Years 11 to 13. (Kansas – Yrs 11 – 13) (Delaware Yrs 11 & 12). The aim of the project is to select teenagers who clearly display leadership potential who, hopefully, will be able to return home and disseminate what they have learned to their peers. The teenagers should meet the criteria listed below:   1. Live in Portadown (attend or have attended school in Portadown) 2. Attend Church on a regular basis 3. Clearly display leadership potential 4. Be in Year 11 or 12 (Delaware) Years 11- 13 (Kansas)   The project leaders will be holding an Information evening on Thursday 17th November at 7.30pm in St. John the Baptist P.S. that is open to all interested teenagers and their parents. At this meeting they will be distributing application forms to those who fulfil the age requirements and inviting them to complete and return them to them.
