Hannah Qualifies for World Cup Race in Fortwilliam
Hanna Mullin (8BL) recently took part in her first downhill race picking up 2nd place! Below is Hannah's father's account of what took place at the weekend. St John the Baptist's College is very proud of her!
'After Hannah and me had our adventure road trip (round journey of about 800 miles) to Golspie in Scotland for Hannah to complete in her first downhill race, round 2 of the Highland hardline downhill series.
Hannah picked up 2nd place in what she has said her self has been the toughest race she has done so far.
Gap jumps, Rocks, roots, drops, and very steep, it was all there.
But she did fantastic and gave it her best. Loads of punctures and ripped tyres but she had great fun and learned lots. I was just happy that she made it down in one piece.
Also because she has finished 2nd at the event, she now qualifies to race in her age category at the World Cup race in Fortwilliam in June, a fantastic opportunity.
The results went up last night, Hannah was actually the 2nd fastest female on the day, in all the age categories right up to and including u18s.
Which is just fantastic.
A great weekend, hopefully more to come.
Below is the video clip that the series have put up online.
Hannah features at about 2 mins doing a jump, scull and crossbones jersey and an orange helmet. She also gets a special mention near the end at the prize giving.
My wife and I are very proud of her.
