Careers
Provisions for careers education is provided in Year 8, 9 and 10 Curriculum.
Years 8, 9 and 10 have timetabled Careers Education classes during which pupils are encouraged to develop individual career plans in a methodical way through a gradual introduction to the wide variety of resources available. This includes software resources for Self Analysis and detailed databases of Career Profiles.
The Careers Programme is also complimented by visiting speakers, visits to institutions of Further Education, Industrial Visits, Careers Convention / F.E. afternoon and specifically targeted programmes eg Year 10 Career Planning Day are hosted from ‘Sentinus’
Work Experience
Traditionally each year the Careers Department places every Year 12 pupil during October for one week of Work Experience. Due to our commitment and the support of local businesses this has been a very valuable and successful venture. Excellent relationships have been built up with local industrialists. Each pupil is visited by a member of staff during this placement and a photograph and a report of their time on work experience plays an important part of their course work for Learning for Life and Work and their COPE award.

The Careers Advisor from the Training and Employment Agency offers individual Guidance on year 10 Options regarding their GCSE choices and post 16 options during Year 12..

Members of the Careers Department are also available for consultation after pupils have received their exam results.
