ICT EXCELLENCE AWARDS

20th Jun 2018

We are delighted to receive the “Highly Commended” award for ICT for 'Differentiation in use of technology to make learning inclusive for all pupils'.

It is an amazing achievement for our school, particularly as we have been established less than a year!

A special word of thanks to our staff, students, parents and governors for their ongoing support and inspiration.

Tim Matchett, Head of C2k Managed Services, said: “C2k are delighted to be involved in the ICT Excellence Awards process with Capita. As showcased in previous years’ award entries and the number of entries this year, the level of innovation and use of technology in NI schools continues to be remarkable. I would like to thank all of the schools who entered this year’s awards and offer my congratulations to the 2018 winners and highly commended schools.”

Ed Brown, Managing Director for Capita Managed IT Solutions, said: “For the fourth consecutive year the ICT Excellence Awards are highlighting the excellent and purposeful use of technology used in schools across Northern Ireland. The awards provide a fantastic opportunity for Northern Ireland schools to showcase this use of ICT in teaching and learning and Capita is proud to be part of that process. Congratulations to all those who entered, the winners Tor Bank School, St. Macartan’s Primary School and St. Catherine’s College and the seven highly commended schools who are using technology impressively.”

The winning school in each classification will receive a prize fund of £2,500 to spend on ICT equipment from Capita. The 2019 NI Schools ICT Excellence Awards will open in the new academic year.

Capita Managed IT Solutions and C2k announced the winners of the fourth annual NI Schools ‘ICT Excellence’ Awards at an award ceremony in The Merchant Hotel in Belfast.

The awards – established in 2015 – celebrate the innovative and collaborative use of technology in schools across Northern Ireland and the positive impact on students and their wider communities. Schools compete in three classifications, Primary, Post Primary and Special Educational Needs under one category – transforming teaching and learning through technology.

The award of representatives from Capita, C2k, the Education Authority and an independent education consultant are for schools that have used technology to transform their educational experience and improve the engagement, achievements and motivation of staff and students. The judging panel consiste.

Steve Moss, Educational Consultant and Chair of the EN(ni) Innovation Forum, and who has judged the awards for 4 years, said: “It is an honour to take part in the awards as a judge. This year, like previous years, highlighted to me how impressive NI schools are in using technology to impact teaching and learning.
